Snapchat’s new AR filter that lets users paint their nails
Snapchat’s parent company, Snapchat, has announced a new AR filter that lets users virtually paint their nails. The company launched its new AR nail segmentation technology in collaboration with US drugstore and nail salon OPI, adding an AR filter with a few OPI colors as part of the collaboration, according to Snapchat.
Users will find a new filter in the Snapchat Lens Carousel section that uses augmented reality to apply different colors and other 2D patterns to users’ nails.
This lens features the first Snap AR technology called Nails Segmentation, which makes trying on digital nails more real than ever. Wipe on colors easily, no nail polish remover needed.
This feature allows Snapchat to experiment with eight nail polish colors.
Snapchat has also partnered with US skincare brand Supergoop for an experimental augmented reality lens that lets users use four Lipshade colors to determine the best look without going to a store.
Meanwhile, Snapchat said it now has more than 200 million monthly “Snapchat” actives in India, one of the company’s top growth global markets.
Snap said it will continue to invest in India through local platform experience, local content initiatives and partnerships, and focus on regional content creators through Spotlight and Stories.
